My first step towards volunteering!

Tonight I had a phone call with a nurse at the San Francisco General Hospital, and I passed my phone screen for the volunteer doula program!  This will be such an amazing experience.  I will be offering support in a baby-friendly hospital to mothers in labor, women who don't have family or friends present to support them during childbirth.  I couldn't be more thrilled.

There is a 12 hour commitment per month, which is one 12 hour shift per month.  I am so incredibly excited for this opportunity.  I have my first meeting with the other doulas on October 12th, and then orientation in November.  After that, I'll be able to start volunteering!  Can't wait. :)
